we know that,diagonal bisect each other at 90° in parallelogram.

so, 5= x-y.........(i)

similarly,, 9= x+y......(ii)

adding equation (i) and(ii)

5+9= x+y+x-y

14= 2x

so,,x=7

putting the value of x in eq. (ii)

9=7+y

y=2

Concept Introduction:-

It could take the shape of a word or a number representation of the quantity's arithmetic value.

Given Information:-

We have been given that ABCD is a parallelogram. If their diagonals at O. AO=9 cm, OB = x-y, OC= x+y, OD= 5 cm.

To Find:-

We have to find that the value of x and y.

Solution:-

According to the problem

Since diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other.

x+y=9  -(i)   and  x-y=5  -(ii)

solving both we get

2x=14\\\Rightarrow x=7cm  and 7-y=5

y=2cm

x=7cm  and y=2cm

Final Answer:-

The correct answer is the value of x and y are 7cm and 2 cm respectively.
