ABCD is a parallelogram in which ∠A = x + 2y, ∠B = 110⁰, ∠C = 70⁰,  ∠D = 5x + 2y , then find x and y.

• Solution:

Since ABCD is parallelogram

Therefore, ∠A = ∠C

∠B = ∠D

Therefore x + 2y = 70.........a

5x + 2y = 110.........b

Subtracting b from a

5x + 2y = 110

-( x + 2y = 70 )

4x = 40

• x = 10.

substituting x = 10 in a

x + 2y = 70

10 + 2y = 70

2y = 70 - 10

y = 60/2

• y = 30

value of x = 10 and y = 30.
