DN ⊥ AB. AB = 8 cm and DN = 5cm

area(ΔCPD) = area(ΔCDA) [triangles formed between same pair of parallel lines and with the same base have equal areas]

= 1/2*(area ABCD) [since diagonal of a parallelogram divide it in two equal areas]

= 1/2*AB*DN

= 1/2*8*5

= 20 sq cm
