As we know that, opposite sides of a parallelogram are parallel to each other.

So in the given figure,

⇒ AB is parallel to CD

So,

⇒ 3x + 5 = 5x - 1

⇒ 5x - 3x = 5 - 1

⇒ 2x = 4

⇒ x = 4/2

⇒ x = 2

Therefore, the value of x = 2.
