Draw a line RS from point R & perpendicular to the line BC meeting at point S on BC (as shown in fig.).

Area of Parallelogram ABCD = Base × Height
= BC × RS

Also area of Triangle BRC = 1/2 × Base × Height
=1/2 × BC × RS

Therefore, from the above conditions the area of Triangle BRC = 1/2 × Area of Parallelogram ABCD.
