AC is the diagonal but it doesn't mean that AP+PC=AC.

ABCD is a Rectangle.
We know that, Parellelogram diagonal are equal.
So, AC = BD
AP + CP = PD + PB
5cm + 4cm = 3cm + x
9 cm = 3 cm + x
9 cm - 3 cm = x
6 cm = x
So,
PB is 6 cm.
