ar(shaded region)=ar (Rectangle)-ar(right angled trapezium)
=(12*16)-(1/2*(8+4)*6)
=192-36=156 cm^2..

plzz mark it as a brainliest answer

rohanvaidya: Book has calculation mistake... (I think soo..) As I too did same mistake... i.e. I took 156 instead of 192..
Bhaavya1: no book is correct

Given length 'l' of rectangle = 16 cm

Breadth 'b' = 12 cm

Dimensions of Trapezium

Side 'a' = 4 cm

Side 'a' = 4 cmSide 'b' = 8 cm

Side 'a' = 4 cmSide 'b' = 8 cmSide 'c' = 6 cm

Therefore, Area of shaded region = Area of rectangle - Area of trapezium

 = l \:  \times b \:  -  \frac{1}{2}  \: h(a + b)

 = 16 \times 12 -  \frac{1}{2}  \times 6(4 + 8)

 = 192 - 3(12)

 = 192 - 36

 = 156 \:  {cm}^{2}
