x - y = 8. -->. (2)
on adding (1) nd (2)
2x=20
=> x = 10
Putting the value of x in (1)
10 + y = 12
y = 12 - 10= 2
=> x = 10
y = 2

By elimination method y gets cancelled
So,2X=20
X=10
and from equation 1 X+Y=12
Putting the value of X in 1
We get,
10+Y=12
