Opposite sides of a rectangle are equal

Therefore, x+y = 30cm

x-y = 14cm

Taking 1st equation = x+y = 30cm

or, x = 30-y

Therefore, in the second equation,

x-y = 14

So, 30-y -y = 14 (Since, x= 30-y)

or, 30-2y = 14

or, 30-14/2 = y

or, 16/2 = y

or, 8 = y

If y= 8,

Taking 1st equation,

x+y = 30

Or, x+8 = 30

or, x= 22

Answer:- x= 22, y = 8
