Step-by-step explanation:

the length of the rectangle ABCD is 8 cm

and the length of the diagonal of the rectangle ABCD is 10 cm

we already know that all the angles of the vertices of a rectangle is equal to 90°

so we draw a diagonal(say we join AC to make one)

so we get a right angled triangle namely triangle ABC

now we have the length of the hypotenuse as well as one side of our right angled triangle ABC, now here we apply Pythagora's theorem. We get

AC²=AB²+BC²

we put in the values(AC=diagonal=10cm AB=length=8cm)

we have

(10)²=(8)²+BC²

=>BC²=(10)²-(8)²........(shifting BC to the other side and 10 to the other side)

=>BC²=100-64

=>BC²=36

=>BC=√36

=>BC=±6

now obiously the length can't be negative

Therefore, our breadth of our rectangle ABCD is 6 cm.
