We know that diagonals of rhombus are bisect perpendicularly

In right triangle AOB

AB=5 cm

OA=\frac{1}{2}AC=\frac{1}{2}(6)=3 cm

AB^2=OA^2+OB^2

Using Pythagoras theorem  

(hypotenuse)^2=(Base)^2+(perpendicular\;side)^2

Substitute the values

5^2=3^2+OB^2

25=9+OB^2

25-9=OB^2

OB^2=16

OB=\sqrt{16}=4 cm

BD=2(OB)=2(4)=8 cm
