ABCD is given square.

so, it's all angles are 90°

so, angle ABC = 90°

Now angle ABC = angle XBY --- { vertically opposite angles}

In ∆ XYB, BX = BY,

So, it is an isosceles traingle

As BX = BY

angle X = angle Y -----{ opposite angles to equal sides}

Now, angle XBY + angle X + angle Y = 180° --- {angles sum property of a triangle}

So, 90° + angle X + angle Y = 180°

angle X + angle Y = 180° - 90°

angle X + angle Y = 90°

But, angle X = angle Y

thus , angle X = angle Y = 45°
