Area of the shaded portion = Area of a square - 4 × Area of a circle=a2-4πr2 )

=14×14−4× 22/7×7/2×7/2

=196−154

∴ Area of the shaded portion =42cm^2

Here :-

Solution :-

$\frac{1}{4} \times \frac{22}{7} \times 14 \: \times 14 \: \\ \\ = 11 \times 14 \\ = 154 {cm}^{2}$
