ABCD is a square of side 20 cm. Find the area of blue coloured region formed by the semi-circles drawn on each side as shown in figure 13.26. (???? = 3.14)

Answer:

228 cm^2

Area of ABCD =400cm^2

Length of AD = 20 cm

Radius of semi circle = 10cm

Area of semi circle = 1/2×π×r^2

= 157 cm^2

Shaded area = ABCD - ( Unshaded areas1+2+3+4 )

Area 1+3 =ABCD -Area of semicircle ( AD+BC)

Area 2+4 = ABCD-Area of semicircle (AB+CD)

Area 1+2+3+4 =2(ABCD)- Area of semi circles (AD+BC+AB+CD)

=2×400-(4×157)

=800-628

=172 cm^2

Area of shaded region = 400-172

=228 cm^2
