here ,

side of square = 7 cm

then BD (diagonal of square ) = \sqrt{2} (side) = 7\sqrt{2}

diagonal of square = diameter of circle

therefore , radius of circle = \frac{diamter}{2}= \frac{7\sqrt{2} }{2}

then area of circle = \pi r ^2

\frac{22}{7}\times \frac{7\sqrt{2} }{2}  \times \frac{7\sqrt{2} }{2}

= 77 cm ²

area of square = side²  = 7² = 49 cm²

then

area of the shaded region = area of circle - area of square

area of the shaded region = 77 - 49 = 28 cm ²

hence, area of the shaded region is 28 cm ²
