ABCD is a Square so, AB=BC=CD=AD ........................(1)
In trian. ABC
AB²+BC² = AC² [By Pythagoras Theorem]
So, 2AB² = AC² [By Eqn (1)]
2AB² = (12)² [Given AC=12 cm]
so, AB² = 144/2
AB² = 72
AB = √72 =
So, Area of Square = side² = (√72)² = 72 cm²
