When we connect the all the opposite points in a regular Hexagon, we get three diagonal.

In the attached diagram, you can see that these diagonals are AD, BE and CF.

We can also see that by doing this, we get 6 equilateral triangles and length of each side of triangle is equal to the length of the side of hexagon.

An equilateral triangle is a triangle with all sides of equal length.

Now you can see that each diagonal consists of 2 lengths.

So length of diagonal AD = 6 + 6 = 12 cm
