You can use the formula for avg speed ( if the distance is same) as=
2(v1)(v2)/ (v1+ v2)
= 2×40×20/ (40+20)
=1600/60
=26.6 kmph
2(v1)(v2)/ (v1+ v2)
= 2×40×20/ (40+20)
=1600/60
=26.6 kmph
