Let one way distance for his trip be S. Let t1 be the time for his trip from home to school and t2 be the time for his return trip.
Then t1=S/v1 =S/20 h
and t2 = S/v2 =S/30 h
Therefore total time of trip is
T=t1+t2=S/20+S/30=S/12 h
Total distance covered=2S.
Therefore average speed of Abdul
=total distance/total time
=2S×12/1S
=24 km/h
