Explanation:

Given-

Let the distance =x

And total distance=2x

Speed for going=20km/h

Speed of returning=40km/h

A.V.Speed=?

Time for 1st journey=t1=distance/speed

t1=x/20

Time for 2nd journey=t2=distance/speed

t2=x/40

Total Time=t1+t2

=x/20+x/40

=(2x+x)/40

=3x/40

Average speed=Total distance/Total time

=2x/3x/40

=2x×40/3x

=80/3

=26.7 km/h approx.
