Abdul while driving to school, computes the average speed of his trip to be 20 km/h. On his return trip along the same route, his average speed is 30 km/h. What is the average speed for Abdul’s trip?

Solution :-

Abdul speed while driving to school = S₁ = 20km/h.

→ His Speed on Returning Home = S₂ = 30km/h.

we know That ,

Average Speed = [ 2 * S * S ] / ( S + S)

Putting Values we get :-

☞ Average Speed = [ 2 * 20 * 30 ] / [ 20 + 30 ]

☞ Average Speed = ( 2 * 20 * 30) / 50

☞ Average Speed = 24km/h. (Ans).

Hence, average speed for Abdul’s trip is 24km/h.
