Father's present age is 49 years.

  • Let fathers present age be x and Abhay's present age be y.
  • Now it is given that Abhay's age after six years will be three-seventh of his father's present age.

y + 6 = \frac{3}{7}x

7y + 42 = 3x

3x - 7y = 42  (Equation 1)

  • Now, present age of father is 4 more than three times Abhay's present age.

x = 3y + 4

x - 3y = 4  (Equation 2)

  • Solving equation 1 and 2 we get,
  • Multiplying equation 1 by 3 and equation 2 by 7  , we get

9x - 21y = 126   (Equation 3)

7x - 21y = 28     (Equation 4)

  • Subtracting equation 4 from 3, we get

2x = 998

x = 49

  • Father's present age is 49 years.
