Father of India Missile Programmed Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam is the 11th president of India. His full name is Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. Abdul kalam is the best president of India till date. He is best known as the “missile man” to every common Indian. He was born on October 15, 1931 at Dhanush Kothi in the temple town Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. His father Jainulabdeen was boat owner and imam of local mosque. His mother Ashiamma was a housewife. He was born in a poor Family, but he was a brilliant child.
He completed his school education from Schwartz Higher Secondary School at Ramanathapuram. Dr. Kalam passed the B.Sc. examination from saint Joseph Collage, Tiruchirappalli. He qualified as an aeronautical Engineer from Madras Technical Institute. After graduation from Madras Institute of Technology he started his career as a scientist DRDO in 1958. He worked on the designing, development and management of indigenous satellite rocket. And after some time, satellite ‘Rohini’ was successfully launched.
He became an important part of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 1963. He developed critical technologies that made Indian defense capable of developing world class missile like Prithvi, Agni, Akaash, etc.
For his work he was honored by Padma Shree and Padma Bhushan. In the year 1997 he was conferred the greatest Indian award “Bharat ratna”. He has also written two books ‘India 2020’ and Wings of Fire Autobiography.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Passed Away on 27 July 2015, aged 83, while delivering a lecturer at Indian Institute of management Shillong, Due to an apparent cardiac arrest.
