Ruskin Bond was born in Kasauli India in 1934 he is one of the most love English writer in India and one of the most prolific when he was only 17 Bond wrote his first novel The Room on the roof which received the John Llewellyn rhys Memorial prize in 1957 that time Bond has written more than 500 short stories essay and novelsand more than 40 books for children he has received several award in his lifetime including the Padma Shri in 1999 for his contribution to children's literature and the Delhi government lifetime achievement award in 2012 he now lives in landour Mussooriewith his extended family

The Indian Council for Child Education has recognised his role in the growth of children's literature in India.
