Answer:

Bhagat Singh was an Indian revolutionary who fought for the independence of India from British rule. He is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of India and a symbol of national resistance. Born on March 27, 1907, in Harkaran village near Lahore (then part-British Punjab), Singh became involved with politics at a young age. In 1929 he took up arms against British colonialists and was eventually arrested and sentenced to death for his involvement in various bombings and murders committed during this time period. However, after spending nearly two decades incarcerated on death row (the longest sentence ever given by the British Raj) Singh was executed by hanging on February 23, 1931 at Ferozeshah Jail outside Delhi.

Bhagat Singh was born in 1907 in the village of Dhariwal in the princely state of Patiala, Haryana. When he was just nine, his family moved to Delhi and he boarded school in the vicinity of Ajmeri Gate. The school was a general school that taught young boys the rudiments of a modern education. After completing his primary education, he went to study philosophy at the Khalsa College in Lahore.

In 1926, while in college, Bhagat Singh became involved in revolutionary activities, inspired by the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the European anarchist movements. He had become convinced that only a swift, violent overthrow of the British Raj could bring about fundamental change for India. He began to publish articles, pamphlets, and books propagating revolutionary ideas.

In April 1931, Bhagat Singh and fellow revolutionaries Rajguru, Sukhdev, and Rajani went to Amritsar to plan a revolutionary uprising against the British authorities. On 8 April 1931, they were arrested and imprisoned in the Central Jail in Delhi. Bhagat Singh was tried and hanged on 23 March 1938, becoming one of the most famous martyrs of the Indian independence movement.
