Bharatnatyam is one of the most popular classical dance form belonging to the South Indian state Tamil Nadu. Bharatnatyam is known for its grace, purity, tenderness, expression and sculpturesque poses. Lord Shiva is considered the God of this dance form. Today, it is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practiced by male and female dancers all over the world, although it is more commonly danced by women.This dance is about two thousand years old ,yet it is performed in many places today. Bharatnatyam is always performed with the knees bent. Bharatnatyam is a solo,feminine type of dance which is very beautiful. The dancer tries to tell the story with her/his expressions. It is a very graceful dance form.
