Electronic configuration is related to the atomic number of the element. Electronic configuration is written on four shells 'K, L, M, N'. The maximum number of electrons that can be put under K is 2, L is 8, M is 8 and N is 18.
For example:- The atomic number of Magnesium is 12. So the electronic configuration will be 2.8.2 i.e. 2+8+2=12, atomic number of carbon is 6. So, the electronic configuration will be 2.4 i. e. 2+4=6, the atomic number of calcium is 20. So the electronic configuration will be 2.8.8.2 i. e. 2+8+8+2=20 etc...

Hope u understand the concept
