Dobereiner's law of triads states that, the atomic mass of the middle element of a triad is the arithmetic mean of the atomic masses of the other two elements. Example: In thetriad of lithium, sodium and potassium.

The german scientist Doberiner arranged the elements know at that time in the increasing order of their atomic masses and suggested that the mean of the atomic mass of first and third element was approximately equal to the atomic mass of middle element.
