The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring phenomenon, that is responsible for the heating of earth surface and atmosphere.

When the solar radiation falls on earth surface heating it, while a small proportion is reflected back.

Earth surface re-emits heat in the form of infrared radiation but part of this does not escape into space as atmospheric gases (e.g., carbon dioxide, methane, etc.) absorb a major fraction of it.

The molecules of these gases radiate heat energy, and a major part of which again comes to earths surface, thus heating it up once again.

This cycle is repeated many a times. Increase in the level of greenhouse gases has led to considerable heating of earth leading to global warming.

Causes;

Greenhouse effect causes melting of the ice caps and releases another greenhouse gases, CH4 which is heating up the environment and causing greenhouse effect again.

Greenhouse effect corresponds to ;

The greenhouse effect is the phenomenon in which the percentage of poisonous gas like sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide etc. increases which traps the heat in the Earth's atmosphere. The greenhouse gases are NO2, methane, CO2, water vapour and ozone. The increase in the heat in the Earth's atmosphere results in the global warming.

hope it helps you:)
