Kushana Empire
The Kushana belonged to the nomadic Yeuh Chi tribe of China. They defeated the Sakas and captured Bactria. During this period, they were divided into five principalities. Kadphises 1 United them and captutured Kabul and Kashmir. The Kushana had flourishing trade relations with Central Asia, China and Western Asia. Taxila, Ujjain and Mathura were important commercial centers. The prosperity of the kingdom is proved by the fact that Kushana were the first rulers of the subcontinent to issue gold coins.

In 185 BCE, Pushyamitra Sunga founded the Sunga dynasty after defeating the last Mauryan Ruler, Brihadratha. Pushyamitra fought the Bactrian invanders from the North - West and performed the Ashwamedha Yajna to celebrate his victory. The Sungas ruled for about 112 years and were succeeded by the Kanva Dynasty.
