1.) What is Matter ?

➝ As we look around our surroundings, we see a large veriety of objects around us. The Nature and behaviour of different types of substances around us are different. It is possible that two substances may have similar appearance but still they may be different.

They all are made up of a material to which the scientist have given name the name Matter.

In simple word, we can define Matter as :

Anything that occupies space and has mass is called matter.

2.) Is matter a pure substance ?

➝ According to the scientists, a pure substance means that it is a single substance.

So, around us, we see that all the matter are not pure because, suppose Air then u will find that air not pure substance because it contains several gases and have water vapours.

So, We can say that -

All Matter are not pure.

3.) What are the different types of matter ?

➝ All the Matter surrounding us are of two types.

(a) pure substances

(b) mixture
