Exercising one’s franchise is a basic right. All Indian citizens who are eligible to vote, can cast their votes and nothing should prevent them from doing so.
The Election Commission of India has taken several initiatives to encourage the people of India, especially youngsters to vote. One of the main initiatives is the ‘No Voter to be Left Behind’. By this, the election commission is to ensure that the requisite documents to enable a person to vote are issued on time - provided all eligibility criteria are met and also to have polling booths within easy access of each voter. Every effort will be taken by the Election Commission to educate voters on the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).
