Shakuntala Devi was a famous personality belonging to India who was known as the human calculator.

She belonged to an orthodox Kannada Brahmin family.

Born on 4 November 1929 she achieved much popularity not only as a Guinness Book Record but also as an Indian writer.

She wrote a number of books like The World of Homosexuals, in 1977. Belonging to such a family it was a breakthrough for her to conquer such liberalism and spreading its ideology in India.

She died on 21 April 2013.

Shakuntala Devi was an Indian mathematician who was popularly known as human calculator besides this she was also a writer.

She has written many books and novels on mathematics, puzzles and astrology during her last years. She has written the book on homosexuality which is considered to be the first study on homosexuality in India, she has also registered her name in Guinness Book of World Record in 1982 because of calculations.

She was born in Mysore and died at the age of 83 in Bengaluru.
