oxidation is the addition of hydrogen and removal of oxygen it generally takes place during corrosion of metal.
The oxidation number of an atom is zero in a neutral substance that contains atom of only one element.
Oxidation number of simple ions is equal to the charge of atom.
Oxidation number of hydrogen is +1.
