Indians bycotted foreign goods and used only Indian goods. 'swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it !' – the slogan given of tilak gave impetus to the attainment of swaraj. Students played an important role in these moments by cotton classes and picketing shops selling foreign goods. Many women also joined the processions and picketing.
