The commemoration of the Pongal festival celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness.
Four Important days of Pongal
There are the four important days of Pongal has described, which celebrated in the Tamil Nadu with great prosperity.
First day – Bhogi Pongal
Before starting the Pongal festival, the couple of the days may decorate the home for this occasion. The ladies may clean the home and decorate the whole house with festoons.
Both the couples may decorate the big earthen vessels too with Kumkum and swastika.
The women make some Rangoli, which makes festival complete. They have not trodden over the beautiful Rangoli that has been designed by around the heart.
Second day – Surya Pongal
In every household, the elder and younger member of the family are called to fill the pit with rice and water.
The Pongal (Cooked rice) is to prepared for appearing to the God and add some milk to rice and must be added some water in the vessel. Those people are participating for cooking that rice mixed with some water and milk, that people should be careful of the making of it.
Third day – Mattu Pongal
The Mattu Pongal celebrated on the next day of Surya Pongal. This day is also known as ‘Thanksgiving’ day. It is the very joyful day for the people. They play the variety of games on this day.
This day is also known as Kanu Pongal. On this day, following the custom of ‘Kanu Pongal,’ girls and women are seen offering prayers for the well-being of their brothers. They also make sweets and delicious dishes for their brothers.
Fourth day – Kannum Pongal
The fourth day and the last day of the festival are known as Kannum Pongal. It Is a time for the re-union of friends and families. The younger people seek blessings of the elders.
