Answer:

Monsoon fury continues to disrupt normal life in many parts of Kerala and Himachal Pradesh. Schools and colleges shut in 8 districts as Chamba, Mandi, Kangra, Shimla and other parts of the hill state reel under heavy downpour.

Heavy rain lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh overnight prompting authorities to close schools in several districts including Shimla, Kangra and Solan.

Normal life has been disrupted in many parts of the the state. Several roads have been closed as heavy rains have triggered landslides in some areas. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may continue till tomorrow, the Met Centre warned while stating that it would decrease after that.

The Sangla-Karcham road has been blocked due to landslides at Ruturang in Kinnaur district.

Meanwhile, 37 people have lost their lives in floods and rain related incidents in different parts of Kerala so far. Thousands of people have been accommodated in relief camps set up in different areas, including in Wayand, where over 14,000 people had been sheltered.

Ten columns of the Army, a unit of Madras Regiment along with personnel of the Navy, Air Force and NDRF are engaged in relief and rescue work in badly-hit districts, including Kozhikode, Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur and Wayanad.

The weather department has issued a 'Red alert', asking people to be cautious as there was a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in most places in Idukki, Wayanad, Kannur, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
