the mauryan dynasty from 321 to 185 B.C. the emperor had it's capital city at Pataliputra (near mordern Patna). the empire was founded by Chandragupta Maurya, who had overthrown the Nanda dynasty.
In all the success of Chandragupta Maurya, impact the advice and guidance of Chanakya to him from the very beginning has to be accepted. Chanakya or Kautilya real name Vishnugupta was good guide and advicer of Chandragupta. Chanakya wrote book Arthashastra.
Megasthene was the ambassador of Selecus in court of Chandragupta for 5 years. he wrote book Indika.
