Answer:

Absenteeism is a major threat to quality education

School attendance is a baseline factor in determining student success.

Successful schools begin by engaging students and making sure they come to school regularly. That may seem obvious. What’s less obvious is that the consequences of low attendance are serious for all children and for the community, not just the students who miss school.

The attendance rate is important because students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school consistently.

It is difficult for the teacher and the class to build their skills and progress if some number of students are frequently absent.

In addition to falling behind in academics, students who are not in school on a regular basis are more likely to get into trouble with the law and cause problems in their communities.

Absenteeism puts the teachers in a difficult situation. They are unable to teach their students in an organized manner and fall behind in their tasks of completing lessons in a given time. This disturbance to their daily orvweekly or monthly planning will also affect the whole class.

A research on absenteeism by tracking students from kindergarten through high school found that student dropout were linked with poor attendance, beginning in kindergarten. They discovered that as early as kindergarten, behavioral differences are apparent between those who go on to graduate and those who drop out early.

Absenteeism is a major threat to quality education. It has been a grave concern over the years. Regular attendance in school is a crucial factor affecting a child’s ability to learn and grow. It is the foundation for further academic and social development. This is why absenteeism in school needs to be addressed from the very beginning.

Students who miss school fall behind their peers in the classroom. This, in turn, leads to low self esteem. Most of the students who are unable to cope with it drop out of school. Absenteeism is a common problem in Indian schools. The causes of absenteeism are many such as health problems, ignorance of parents, school phobia, anxiety, fear of bullying by senior students, etc. There is an urgent need of considering the problem of absenteeism holistically in order to find out its reasons and come up with a solution since education shapes the future of the students as well as the country.
