Answer:

Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Mark me brainlest

Explanation:

given that

refractive index of alcohol with respect to air(μ₁ₐ)=1.36.............(1)

&

refractive index of CS₂ with respect to air(μ₂ₐ)=1.63..............(2)

operating equations (1)/(2)

μ₁ₐ/μ₂ₐ=1.36/1.63

⇒(μ₁/μₐ) / (μ₂/μₐ)=1.36/1.63

⇒μ₁/μ₂=1.36/1.63

⇒μ₁₂≈ 0.83

.·. the value of refractive index of alcohol with respect to CS₂ is 0.83(appx.)

Given that, refractive index of alcohol is 1.36 and of carbon disulphide is 1.63.

We have to find the refractive index of alcohol with respect to carbon disulphide and refractive index of carbon disulphide with respect to alcohol.

Refractive index of air with respect to alcohol = (Speed of light in air)/(Speed of light in alcohol) = 1.36 ..............(A)

Similarly,

Refractive index of air with respect to carbon disulphide = (Speed of light in air)/(Speed of light in alcohol) = 1.63 ...........(B)

So,

Refractive index of alcohol with respect to carbon disulphide = (Refractive index of air with respect to alcohol)/(Refractive index of air with respect to carbon disulphide)

Substitute value of (A) and (B) in the above formula to find the value of refractive index of alcohol with respect to carbon disulphide.

Refractive index of alcohol with respect to carbon disulphide = 1.36/1.63

= 0.83

Similarly,

Refractive index of carbon disulphide with respect to alcohol = (Refractive index of air with respect to carbon disulphide)/(Refractive index of air with respect to alcohol)

= 1.63/1.36

= 1.19
