Answer:

Refractive index of a medium = speed of light in air or medium

3/2= speed of light in air/ 2×10^8 m/s

speed of light in air =3×10^8 m/s

1. in vacuum

speed of light in vacuum =2×10^8 m/s3/2

speed of light in vacuum = 3×10^8 m/s

hence the speed of light in vacuum is 3×10^8 m/s

2. in water

speed of light in water =3×10^8 m/s/4/3

speed of light in water = 2.25×10^8 m/s

hence the speed of light in water is 2.25×10^8m/s

Explanation:

Refractive index of glass wrt water ( glass n water) = (glass n air)× (air n water) = (glass n air)× (1/water n air) = 4/3 × 2/3 = 8/9.
