Abul Fazl was the court historian under Emperor Akbar. He described the idea of Sulh-i-kul (absolute peace) as the cornerstone of enlightenment rule.
According to Sulh-i-kul, every religion and different schools of thought had freedom of expression as long as they didn’t undermine the authority of the state or fight among themselves. Instructions were sent throughout the empire to follow the concept of Sulh-i-kul in administration.
Even the nobility under emperor was of diverse ethnic groups like Iranians, Rajputs, Turanians, Afghans etc. All of these people from diverse backgrounds were given titles, positions and award solely on the basis of their service and loyalty to the Emperor.
