Adjectives—Describing Words
Look at the following sentences:
1. Gopi is an old man.
The word old tells us what kind of man
Gopi is. It describes the man.

That is a black dog.
The word black tells us what the colour
of the dog is. It describes the dog.
3. Gita has three pencils.
The word three tells us how many pencils
Gita has.
Old, black and three are describing words. Describing words are called
djectives. They add to the meaning of the nouns. In the above sentence

John is tall.
The sky is blue.
