Metropolitan cities are the smart cities which have more than ten lacks people and have municipalities in every areas or Panchayats.

There are total 46 cities which are under in metropolitan cities. Among 46, 8 cities are called mega cities and rest 38 cities are known as million plus cities.

As per census of 2011 there are eight mega cities in India like - Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Surat, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi.

Another million plus cities are - Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Srinagar, Madurai, Ranchi, Howrah, Jodhpur, Raipur, Kota, Nashik, Dhanbad, Gwalior, Agra, Rajkot, Bihar, Jabalpur and many others.
