To Find : which of the  following possibilities of  matchbox’s dimensions can be in the  packet of:

a) 4 cm X 4 cm X 4 cm

b) 1 cm X 2 cm X 32 cm

c) 1 cm X 4 cm X 16 cm

d) 1 cm X 8 cm X 8 cm

e) 2 cm X 4 cm X 8 cm

f) 1 cm X 1 cm X 64 cm

Solution:

packet of 8 cm X 8 cm X 8 cm

Hence none of matchbox can have any dimension grater than 8

b) 1 cm X 2 cm X 32 cm    - Not Possible  32 > 8

c) 1 cm X 4 cm X 16 cm     - Not Possible 32 > 16  

f) 1 cm X 1 cm X 64 cm      - Not Possible 64 > 16  

a) 4 cm X 4 cm X 4 cm  - Possible   there can be 8

d) 1 cm X 8 cm X 8 cm   - Possible   there can be 8
