According to Newton's first law a body in its uniform state of motion will continue in the same state forever however it is observed moving body is always stop.
This is bcoz it is impossible to achieve a frictionless surface.
According to 1st law , a body continues to be in its state of rest or uniform motion untill an external unbalanced force is applied on it.
On any surface the body experiences the opposing force of friction and hence after sometime comes to a stop.
