Democracy is by the people, of the people, and for the people. For the proper upholding of democracy, there must be transparency between the elected representatives, people and the working of the system.  The RTI is people’s right to transparency and to demand answers.

It keeps alive the soul of democracy where the people are the most powerful and their elected personnel are very much answerable to them. Hence if any officer fails to give the information demanded through RTI, she/he is rightly punishable by law.
