yes it is true
because,
taking the simple example of onions
if the price of an onion is low then people will buy more quantities say around 5 kg by a single person.
a raise in price of onions people will buy less quantities say around 2kg
from the above example we can understand that their is an inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded of a commodity.
but remember the law of demand have some exceptions also
example: if the price of daily necessities such as price of rice increases then the demand will not fall down due to a raise in price of rice
like wise it has few more exemptions also
