Answer:
According to the ‘periodic law’ which was given by ‘Mendeleev’, the “properties of an element” are the periodic function of ‘its atomic numbers’.
According to the Mendeleev periodic table –The “physical and chemical properties” are the ‘periodic functions’ of their respective atomic mass.
Drawbacks of periodic table:
- Position of Hydrogen is not well defined.
- Unlike elements are placed in same row. Example- Potassium and copper.
- Metals and non-metals are placed in the same group. Examples- Manganeese and Bromine.
- There is no separate column for Nobel gases.
