stomata are minute opening occurring i n large number on a lower surface of a leaf.the main function is to let in co2 from the atmosphere for photosynthesis.

Both monocots and dicots have guard cells on the surface of their leaves. The only difference lies in their shape and the area of presence.
In monocots, guard cells are arranged in a decent pattern whereas in dicot they are present in a irregular pattern. Monocots have guard cells both at upper and lower surface of leaf where in dicots, they are abundantly present at the lower side of a leaf.
